End of the summer...already???...

Last Saturday we had our 'End of the Summer' party. It was a good time. We cleaned out the cabinets of all of the fun summer stuff we wanted to get rid of (food, cups, liquor). People brough over some awesome food and snacks (the brownies Robby and Robert brought over were awesome!!)

I was a beautiful day - never rained, sun was shining; couldn't ask for anything better!

Well, it got to be that time and I started lighting up the grill. Now normally, I cook hotdogs and sausage first - kind of gets the grill all nice and primed. Well, I started lying down the burgers and by the time I had them all down - the first ones I put down were really smoking. I closed the cover and opened it a few minutes later - it was BAD! The entire thing was a flame! I looked over at PJ and said "I need help". First thing we did was to move it away from the house (good thinking). Well, we moved it over and it fell off of the deck and onto its side - still a ball of flame. I started getting real worried about the entire propane tank underneath that had flames brushing up against the side. We got out the hose and they sprayed it enough so I could turn the gas off - which was enough to let the fire be sprayed out.

Needless to say, we didn't have burgers. Right after this is done, Paul screams out "If you didn't want to cook Scott, all you had to do was say so!" Thankfully there was enough food to go around without the burgers - special thanks to RJ's mom for cooking all of that spaghetti!!!

Anyway, the summer is over and we start bowling again on Saturday's starting this week.

Southern Decadence in New Orleans vs. GUSTAV

This was our hotel in New Orleans - well, for one night NOT four!

Friday, we flew to New Orleans and arrived at 12:30pm. We took a cab to the airport, when we got there the rooms weren't ready, so we dropped off our luggage and went out to find a bar (you can drink on the streets if it is in a plastic cup).

We went into a few places, had a few drinks. Walked around and mingled, drank some.
We got back to the hotel later that afternoon and got all checked in and went across the street to a little bar and got some food and more drinks at Tropical Isle (Robert liked the drinks there).

We went back to the room for a disco nap and woke to the front desk calling to say that we need to check out Saturday morning by 8am, and that the hotel would be sealed at noon. The French Quarter in New Orleans was being evacuated.

We changed out flights departing out and said, "let's go out"; nothing better to do, right? We all got dressed and went out, of course stopping at Tropical Isle for a walking drink...

The next morning we packed up and started to head out.

Damn storms!!
